Consejero de Seguridad estará en posesión de Santos

Washington. El presidente de EE.UU., Barack Obama, anunció ayer que el consejero de Seguridad Nacional, James Jones, encabezará la delegación de su Gobierno que asistirá el 7 de agosto a la investidura del gobernante electo de Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos.

La Casa Blanca informó que además del general Jones, la delegación estadounidense estará integrada por el embajador de EE.UU. en Bogotá, William Brownfield.

El actual presidente de Colombia, Álvaro Uribe, que ha sido un gran aliado de Washington, abandonará el poder el 7 de agosto y entregará la Presidencia de ese país andino al ex ministro de Defensa, Juan Manuel Santos.

Con el envío de Jones a la investidura, la Casa Blanca demuestra la importancia que concede a la relación bilateral con Colombia, puesto que no es frecuente que se envíe a las tomas de posesión a un funcionario de tan alto nivel.
